Financial services since 2008

The rules are the product.

Fee schedules. Offset hierarchies. Trading rules. Card controls. Retirement recordkeeping.

For nearly two decades, we’ve engineered financial platforms where complex business logic, integrations, and regulatory requirements are part of the product, not details to be worked around.

We know why these systems are difficult to build and evolve. The challenge isn’t just understanding the technology. It’s understanding which rules must remain intact and how they interact. Our experience helps us make better engineering decisions, whether we’re building a financial product from the ground up or evolving a platform that has been running for years.

What we have built

Our experience spans the financial systems where complex business rules and reliable execution matter most.

Billing, retirement and recordkeeping

Rule-engine fee calculation and invoicing, recordkeeping platforms, and retirement solutions.

Trading systems

Multi-tenant bond trading across multiple ECNs, with a rule-based autobidder.

Cards and spend management

Corporate and white-labeled card programs, engineered around the security requirements of card issuing.

Additional experience
Advisory platforms. Robo and CFP systems.
Bank aggregation. Aggregators, portals and integration.
Trade finance. A trust and auditability platform for SMEs and enterprise buyers.
Financial simulation. Retirement and financial planning models.

What an error costs here

Financial software isn’t difficult only because of its technical complexity. It’s difficult because errors have consequences beyond the system itself: they are external, expensive and discoverable by someone other than you.

Financial accuracy

A client is invoiced the wrong amount, or a participant balance is wrong, and the calculation has to be defended.

Transaction integrity

A bad bid is placed at real money, in a market that does not offer to reverse it.

Auditability and compliance

Financial calculations and decisions need appropriate controls, traceability, and evidence for review.

Built for the demands of financial services.

DRL Group

Municipal and corporate bond trading

A multi-tenant SaaS platform for traders bidding and offering bonds across four Electronic Communication Networks, with inventory, profit and loss modules and a rule-based autobidder. The autobidder is deterministic on purpose: a bid is placed because a rule fired, and the rule can be produced afterwards and read by a person.

“Founding Minds has gone beyond expectations to learn our business needs that have been essential to our success.”

Sara Manning, Director of Information Technology, DRL

Vertical Management Systems

Retirement recordkeeping billing and invoicing

A rule-engine billing platform: contractual fee arrangements stored in the system, fees calculated against them, and invoices generated for third parties, including complex fee calculation, fee minimums and maximums, and offset hierarchy management. The number has to be derivable, defensible and identical on a re-run.

Result
Weeks → days
Fee calculation and invoice creation
Hundreds of invoices generated per minute, per the published case study.

“A key corporate objective was to achieve faster time-to-market for products and utilize a solid global delivery model. Founding Minds helped us enhance our existing products and build new quality products with reduced turnaround time.”

Marguerite Peters, CEO, Vertical Management Systems

Torpago

Corporate cards and spend management

A modern spend management platform giving businesses corporate cards and spend controls. Founding Minds helped engineer the platform and supporting infrastructure around the security and operational requirements of corporate card issuing. The platform gives businesses spend controls and reports spending back in enough detail to act on.

“Founding Minds is more than an outsourced development team, they truly are part of your team.”

Brent Jackson, CEO & Co-Founder, Torpago
AI in financial services

Modernize the workflow. Protect the logic that matters.

Based on our experience building financial platforms, these are some of the workflows where we see practical opportunities for AI, in established systems and new financial products alike:

Billing operations

Identify and prioritize exceptions while preserving the underlying fee-calculation rules.

Reconciliation

Group breaks by likely cause and help teams resolve them faster.

Document processing

Extract and organize information from statements, custodial files, and account documents.

Financial operations

Help users understand how calculations were produced using existing rule-engine outputs.

The key is to distinguish where AI adds value from where deterministic rules, validation, and explicit controls remain essential. We make those decisions based on the workflow, its business impact, and the consequences of error.

Modernizing financial platforms

Financial platforms accumulate years of business rules, integration knowledge, and operational exceptions. We modernize the architecture and experience around that accumulated knowledge without casually discarding the logic that makes the business work.

Let’s talk about your financial platform.

Whether you’re modernizing an established system, developing a new financial product, or extending your engineering capacity, we bring the domain knowledge and engineering experience to help.
